January 2011: The International Program Director Visit to Ethiopia

“…Ethiopia has been a special country to Save the Children Sweden…” Mr. Svante Sandberg

  

             

 

The International Program Director of Save the Children Sweden, Mr. Svante Sandburg, paid visit to Ethiopia from January 22 to 25, 2011.

 

During his staying in Addis Ababa, from January 23 to 25, he has discussed with Save the Children Sweden Ethiopia Program staff members, visited the works of SCS partners like Federal First Instance Court (FFIC), Forum on Sustainable Child Empowerment (FSCE), discussed with the SC member directors, and directors of SCS partners.  In addition, in the visits, he had the opportunity to discuss with the President of Federal First Instance Court, social workers and, community members.

 

A welcoming reception has brought together a range of the country office’s collaborators like, representatives of government offices, academia, partner organization, SC representatives, Swedish embassy, Sida that give a chance in creating future solidarity in better serving children of the country. 

  

In all events, Mr. Sandburg has mentioned about the work to create one Save the Children and his conviction that Save the Children will play an important role in Ethiopia also in the future.  He explained that “Coming together in one global organization is what we should have done from the beginning some 91 years ago. Even, after the creation of this strong organization SCS has interest to continue to play a role in some way in Ethiopia.  Ethiopia is a special country for SCS, since it is the first country that SCS opened its international office in 1965, following the works that have been undertaken in Europe.”  He also expressed how much he is impressed of the works accomplished by SCS and its partners.
