15 June: Sharing experiences on Juvenile Justice

High officials, legal personnel from the Juvenile Justice Courts and a representative from an NGO, SABAH from Khartoum are visiting the Juvenile Justice programme of Save the Children Sweden in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Monday 18 June, 2007. The purpose of the visit is to share experiences and to learn more about the Juvenile Justice system in Ethiopia.

Save the Children Sweden in Ethiopia has been working with the Ethiopian police for more than ten years, in the area of child protection, resulting in good practice in the Juvenile Justice system. Examples of the programmes success are the establishment of child friendly structures in police stations, Child Protection Units (CPU), the Child Abuse and Neglect Unit (CANU) in the hospitals, the Child Friendly Courts and Community Correction Centers for children who have been involved in minor offences for the first time.
