One of the negative consequences of working in war-torn, poverty-stricken areas is that there is dependence on foreign aid.
In southern Sudan, and in the refugee camps, people are dependent on international aid for survival. This is not going to last forever. As such, it is imperative that local structures and organisations are developed and strengthened so that children’s rights are protected in the future. As such, Save the Children Sweden works with more than thirty different indigenous NGOs. The organisation works in partnership with these NGOs, providing them training, support and guidance so that children’s rights are protected long in the future.
